THE MIND OF A FULL-TIME CABBIE.
What does the public think? There are many reasons why a person considers driving a cab for a living. Us drivers already understand that the typicle driver is looked down at like we are the scum of the earth. Why? Can you people imagine the world without cab drivers. A driver drives with many rules set by the city or company they drive for, always with the fear of termination by the company. Slavery was abolished a long time ago...and yet the cab driving industry is sort of like 'LEGALIZED SLAVERY'. We drivers have cab costs and fees and business expenses...like gas(which is not free)and is a necessity, food and drinks(we do have the right to eat too)accidents which are costly, regardless who's fault it was(time is money in the business). Why does a person always threat the driver with "I'll call your company!" If a person doesn't understand how a 'CAB DRIVER" operates and what he goes through, don''t use our nessary service. Understand a driver with fees and costs, averaged less than minimum wage. Is that the American Way? We work harder than an average American. 40 hours weeks?WOW! That would be considered barely working. I average 10-20 hour shifts(just to cover the cost of doing business). If you don't know math......that's 70-140 hours a week and yet we're spit on and looked down at. We provide a needed service that is not appreciated. I will NOT say that all cab drivers are good people, if I did, then I am a big nose lier! But there are a handful of drivers that are. If a person states that they care.....they're a big nose lier. Example....if we drop a person off at the destination and drive around the corner and wreck our cab and DIE. The customer would say "I'm glad he dropped me off already, whew!"
